In high school I was a color guard on the marching band, I didn’t play and sports and I was not popular. I was in dance and enjoyed it but never made it to the ‘top’ class. I had a few good friends but never really fit into any crowd. School was torture for me and hated most of it. I’ve never had any self esteem and still don’t. At age 33 I finally have braces to help improve myself image. I am a country music lover and can be quite redneck when I want to. I am a city girl with a country heart.

Paul
Born 7-24-78 in Lansing, MI
Raised in Sunfield, MI
Graduated from Lakewood High School in 1997
Attended Bowling Green State University studying Music Education
Attending Lansing Community College studying Music

In high school he played trombone on the marching band. He played tennis and golf. (the nerd sports). He was not a ‘popular’ kid, more of a band nerd groupie. Paul still plays him trombone when he can. He currently plays with the LCC Jazz band. He has played with the Lansing Concert Band. He loves model trains and LOVES fishing. He like the nerd music (classical and jazz). But that’s what I love about him. I have always liked the nerds.

-October 2001
We met through a mutual friend at the time, who tried to hook us up. It didn’t work at that point; in fact I could not stand him. We did chat online a little bit after that and we discussed some shady thing that we going on with this so called friend.

-November 2001
We met again in person for dinner. We met at 6:pm we were still there when the restaurant was closing. I knew when I drove away from there that night that he was the man I was going to marry.

-March 2002
We got an apartment together. I little early in a relationship but we took that step. We both knew it was right and we were past the age where we need to get out of our parent’s house and on our own.

-September 2002
Paul asked me to marry him. I can’t say I didn’t know it was coming because I did. We even had our wedding date already picked out but we both knew. We just knew we were meant for each other.

-June 12, 2004
We were married!

-March 2005
We bought our first house. At the time it seems like a cute little starter home. We’d have our first child and when we got ready for number two we’d sell and move on to something bigger. Little did we know we would have twins and the economy would crap out and we’d be stuck in a house we hate that is too small.

- December 2005
We are pregnant!

-January 2006
Guess what?! We are having TWINS!! It was discovered because I was spotting and they did an ultrasound to make sure everything was ok. I proceeded to be so sick I didn’t eat for three months and wound up in the hospital. I had a picc line put in and had to give myself IV nutrients at home for two months.

-May (ish) 2006
The BIG ultrasound, the one they take all the measurements and you find out the sex. Guess What?! Two boys!! We wanted either two boys or one of each but not two girls. We also found out our Baby A (David) had a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD). Luckily Baby B (Matthew) was completely healthy. I was put on the “High Risk” list because I was having twins and one was ‘sick’.

-June / July 2006
Now that I was feeling better my belly was so big I could hardly move. The boys laid sideways in my belly. Heads up under my left breast, feet down by my right hip. This caused me a LOT of hip pain. David danced on my bladder and Matthew rolled in my ribs. I had TONS of ultrasounds and quite a few trips to Ann Arbor to monitor the babies’ growth and to monitor David’s heart. I would have the boys in Ann Arbor at Mott’s Children’s Hospital because David would need heart surgery after birth.

-August 2, 2006
Our Babies were born!! David Paul at 10:52am, Matthew Ray 10:54am. Both about 6lbs. I had 12lbs of baby in me. Let’s just say I felt SO MUCH BETTER with them out. David was taken to the NICU without me seeing him. Matthew was completely healthy and got to stay with me.

-August 7, 2006
David’s first heart surgery.

-August 2006 (general)
I had a c-section. During all this chaos we were able to stay in the Ronald McDonald house. I did a LOT of walking around the hospital because of David being in there. My scar didn’t heal properly and got slightly infected. I should have been at home resting taking care of my babies. I feel jiped. I missed out on all the ‘normal’ stuff. David was in the hospital about two weeks before we came home as a family. Then I got to relax.

-September 2006 (end)
The boys were 8weeks old. I was supposed to return to work and I started having gall bladder attacks that landing me in the hospital for three days, and gave me another week off work.

-June 2011
Paul and I have been happily married for 7 years now. We are still stuck in the same small ass house we hate. The boys are almost 5 and starting kindergarten in the fall.

-January 17, 2012
David has heart surgery again.  As the normal trooper he is, he handles it very well but is very sensitive with his scar.  This surgery was supposed to take place in December.  It got canceled two or three times before it happened.

-May 31, 2012
The surgery that surprised it.  David has an aneurysm under his aortic valve. It wasn't there on his exit echo from this January surgery.  We almost got sent to Mott's by ambulance because the cardiologist was freaked out.  He called Mott and e-mailed the echo to them, (all this time we know NOTHING is wrong and are waiting and waiting in the room).  Mott decided as long as David was acting fine then he could go home and would get on the surgery schedule ASAP.

-November 2012
David was granted a Make-A-Wish to Disney World.  It was AMAZING!  And so started our addiction to Disney.

-January 2014
Paul and I took a child free trip to Disney World in October 2013.  It was wonderful and I am go glad we did it.  We've both decided we are going to move to Florida... at some point in our lives.  May have to wait until the boys are grown and out of the house.
