All About Matthew

Lilypie Fifth Birthday tickers

Hi! My name is Matthew.

I was born August 2, 2006 at 10:54am. I weighed 5lb 2oz. (Mommy will argue that, the delivery room scales were off because the next day I weight 6lb and babies don’t’ gain weight the first day, they lose a couple ounces) I am the second born in a set of twins. I was Mommy’s rib poker.

Mommy’s Turn

At my 18 week ultrasound (the big one that last forever) we went in excited to see our twins (I knew at 7wks we were expecting twins), and find out what we were expecting. Was it one of each? Two boys? Hopefully not two girls. Our Baby A – BOY! Sweet! At least we know it’s not two girls. Baby B – BOY! Sweet! Two boys. Boys are cool and like gross stuff. Shhhh… Mommy likes the gross stuff too. Boys are perfect!

Baby A had a heart defect. Baby B was perfectly healthy. We were going to wait until the boy were born to give them their names but because of David’s defect and we always thought of him as David we gave them their names. Baby B became Matthew!

I had lots of ultrasounds to monitor their growth (twin pregnancies are high risk and it’s normal to have more ultrasounds then a single pregnancy) and David’s defect. Matthew was checked a few times but he was normal. Thank God!

Matthew was a trooper and the perfect little baby; he was the easy child who gave me time to deal with David and his issues. I’m still relieved Matthew was so easy and I appreciate him for that.

Matthew did qualify for early on like his brother, and had one year of special education preschool but he graduated from that and went to kindergarten readiness for one year. Next year he will be starting kindergarten.

Though he tends to have more of a grouchy attitude like his Daddy I am so thankful he is as smart as he is. He helps out with David a lot by teaching him things David doesn’t know yet. He is a superstar in our book!
