David's Learning Wall

David needs help, the help he didn't get in pre-school.  Yes I am bitter about it too.  So... I made David a learning wall.  Matthew is more then happy to help David with it too.
I went to the dollar store and got the alphabet, I was glad to see it was already cut and not one long sheet.  I taped it onto the wall.  He has to get the stool to reach the top row but I've told him to trace the letter with is finger.  Matthew keeps pointing out letter and saying them out loud to David.  Hopefully this helps David start to learn some basics.

Hi Sarah!
Thanks for your comment on my blog. I like your blog- this is the first I've seen it and look forward to reading more. :-) As for getting text to wrap around pictures, what I do is I upload most of my pictures to be the medium size and on the left. I usually have something to say about each picture so what I do is I start typing next to the picture (at the top) and just keep going until I am done with whatever it is I am saying. I move the cursor to the top of the next picture and do the same. I hope this is making sense. I may do a post on this... I started a blog called blogitteacher.blogspot.com (mostly for my teacher friends) with tips on that sort of thing so hopefully I'll get out a post there soon. Let me know if this makes sense! :-D

Ps... As an early childhood teacher for 14 years... Don't worry about David not knowing his letters. I imagine he has been exposed to them and the best way to get your boys ready for reading is to read, read, read! Prior to having school age kids, I would say this to parents and then when mine started getting older, I worried that maybe I should be working on letters and letter sounds with them... My kids went to kindergarten not knowing all of their letter sounds but quickly went to being top readers in their class because we had an environment that valued books and literature (my husband and I both read a lot... etc). Much of reading is developmental so again just keep reading those books to your boys. They may start to memorize them, but that is OK. Talk about the story what is going to happen next... etc. Stuff like that.
BTW- I realized that that last comment I left was from my school blog (must have been the last place I blogged from... :-P It is Laura from "Days with the Dorans" and "Moments of Pause".
Take Care-
