Keep your fingers crossed

The boys did NOT get into the Charter school... yet.

Yes I am quite upset about it.  I know I was one of the first ones to register online because I checked the website almost every day waiting for them to open it.  I do understand that siblings have preference but still.  They held a "lottery".  I got a call today David is in 8th and Matthew is like in 16th on the waiting list.  WTF is up with that?  The lady the phone was kinda rude to me when I asked if I could switch the boys around because of David not being ready for kindergarten.    She did tell me that the acceptance packets went out on Monday and they have two weeks to turn them in or they are dropped.  Then kindergarten round up is the end of may.  If they don't show up to that they get dropped.  She said the chances of them getting in for next fall are really good.  Because once David get's in then Matthew will get priority so it's like they are 8 and 9 instead of 8 and 16 if that makes any sense.

I asked her about Young Fives or Developmental Kindergarten.  She said that they are not having that but they are having all day Kindergarten which will benefit the ones that are not quite ready, because of the full day they are not so pressed for time and can work with the slower ones more.  So I am ok with putting David in that.

So I guess when I drop Matthew off at pre-school tomorrow I will ask the teacher about Kindergarten enrollment forms for where he's at now just in case.

This really sucks.

I know you really wanted the boys to go there. For that reason, I'm sorry for you. (Although I really dislike charter and magnet schools.) If they don't get in, really do your research on which school to send them to. Also, I would advise REALLY working with David this summer. It seems like his school has not really worked at catching him up. Just because they are twins doesn't mean they have to be in the same grade. If David isn't ready (by the time school starts) you will do him a great dis-service by pushing him when he is not ready. BUT if he is ready, then go full force! He's a really smart kid, I'm sure he can catch up.
