Out it comes

Matthew has surgery next Wednesday, March 9th to have the pin taken out of his finger.  It's ready to come put because his body is starting to reject it.  If you look at the tip of his finger you see a little pinple looking pump.  That's the pin starting to make it's way out.  The doctor did tell Paul that he sees some new nail growth.  But what I don't get is they told us at the last appointment that is nail was gone, that it had come off yet you can see that his  nail is there.  You can tell it's not connected to the cuticle but he has a full nail there?  Then at the last appointment he told Paul "you know there is a nail there right?".  Well duh we saw it but that's not what you told us two weeks ago.  So I dunno.

I do think he is getting used to it.  He's not as touchy about you looking at it or touching it as he was before.  they did warn us that the tip of his finger might not grow propperly but chances are it will because he's so young.  It depends on if the break was on the bone in the tip of the finger or the growth plate that was forming.  From the x-ray I saw it was off the tip so I am not to worried.

Maybe they just left the nail (glued on) for aesthetic reasons. Either way, I'd be asking them what the deal is.
